PAINFUL INGROWN TOE NAILS
by Dr. Alan Meyerberg

The most common cause of ingrown nails is trimming the wrong way or picking at your nails.
Usually it's the big toe however any toe can be affected and sometimes both feet get the problem.
The nails should be cut straight across. Never dig into the corners. Don't pick or tear at the nails because they will rip down into the corner where the nail meets the skin. Don't make the nails too short. The ingrown nail is under the skin. You don't see it. But as the nail grows, the pointy ingrown part acts like a knife stabbing from the inside. Soon an infection develops.
NOW WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
Do you think outgrow will help?.....
Read the ingredients. The main ingredient is acid!! Do you think it will help to pour acid on an infection? I don't!!
Also read the warnings of outgrow....not to be used by diabetics or people with poor circulation.
You might want to soak your foot in a warm solution of white vinegar and water. That's 1/2 cup of vinegar for every quart of water. The temperature should be around 100 degrees fahrenheit. Soak three or more times a day.
Apply some antiseptic like neosporin or bacitracin and a bandaid.
CALL YOUR PODIATRIST OR DOCTOR, PREFERABLY ME!!
An infection like this is a medical emergency. Don't delay getting it treated.
