Alan
Meyerberg was born in Brooklyn NY in 1956. He attended P.S. 186, Seth low Junior
High, New Utrecht High and Brooklyn College where he received a Bachelor of
Science degree. Then young Mr. Meyerberg with an aptitude for the sciences and a
genuine desire to help people set off for medical school.
After almost 20 years in practice the question patients most
frequently ask is "Why did you want to become a foot doctor". Initially podiatry
was not my first choice. Actually I didn’t know that there was such a thing as a
podiatrist until an old friend called me from the New York College of Podiatric
Medicine and suggested I apply. After visiting neighborhood podiatrists I
couldn’t believe smiling happy patients were actually looking forward to seeing
their doctor! The foot doctors I visited (and later studied with) prescribed
medications and performed complex foot surgery effortlessly in their office.
Even
though I was accepted to a foreign medical school before I was accepted to
podiatry school, it was an easy decision where to go. Podiatrists don’t have to
deal with depressing illnesses that can sometimes lead to death. Because the
practice is limited to the foot and ankle, a podiatrist can begin practice soon
after the four years of medical studies. The methods of treatment we use are
widely acceptable and very successful. Patients like their podiatrist.
After graduating Cum Laude in 1981 from the New York College
of Podiatric Medicine I participated in post graduate training with podiatry’s
top foot surgeons. Shortly thereafter I opened my office in Staten Island where
I still practice today. In 1996 I opened a second office in Parlin New Jersey
not far from my home. I hold Board Certification in surgery and primary foot
care from the American Podiatric Medical Specialties Board and Board
Certification in Orthopedics from the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics.
I’m on staff at Staten Island University Hospital and Union Hospital in NJ. I am
also a faculty member of two podiatry colleges.
I live at home in Monmouth County NJ with my son and
daughter. We’d like to have you over for a Bar B Que. Let’s make plans.
I enjoy being a foot doctor and may I say, ‘not in a shy way’ I
am very good at what I do. When you come to my office we can discuss your foot
condition, including the alternative treatments available and the cost. You make
the final decision. You will never be pressured into a remedy you don’t want.
People say I have a good sense of humor. You may have seen me do a stand up
comedy act in the seventies at The Factory in Princess Bay S.I. I try to keep my
patients laughing. Sometimes I keep them in "stitches".
Put my screen name in your buddy list. When you see FOOTQUEST on
line
feel free to I.M.. I’ll be happy to discuss feet or just say
hello.
